Last night. Two-thirty. Liz and I were lying in our beds in the dark talking for a while slowly drifting off to sleep then i get a text from my friend. The light from my phone of course sears our eyes permanently. and I say the only thing that can possibly describe it "...ouch" with the typical delay of brain function that happens around that time in the morning.
Then as i reach down to put my phone on my desk i accidentally bump my computer arousing it from the deep slumber it has been enjoying, provoking it to retaliation with a seismic blaring light right in our faces. I squeal out "ahhh it's blinding" while liz starts going off about some atomic explosion that she apparently thought was radiating from my phone. After that there was no hope for us. I suddenly realized that i had to "pee like a pregnant mother" and bolted to the bathroom while liz started having such a panic attack about her sheets being wrinkly that she turned our room lights on full blast. She proceeded to fully switch her sheets, her pj pants, and her socks.
To help us deal with this traumatic experience we watched scrubs after that. It was three by this time. College..is asswesome.

Somedays people prove me wrong.
So awhile ago i came to the conclusion that generally people are shallow insecure douche bags. But this morning i was wrong:
-Thank you guy who helped me pull four boxes of paper up a slick snowy hill on his way to class with a simple "man, it sucks to have to pull things up a slope in the snow."
-Thank you to the guy that was waited for me to fill up paper and said thank you when I was done. You have a very sincere voice. and you were an attractive black man.
-Thank you to the numerous people, 8 or 10 in all, that opened up doors for me.
-Thank you to the guy that helped the little old lady across the snowy road carried her bags, and then cleaned the snow off her car. I was watching you, thank you.
-Thank you to the guy that moved a chair out of the way so I, pulling crap, could get through.
-Thank you radio station for playing two amazing songs in a row.
-Thank you heater in the company car for working this morning so I didn't freeze while i was out saving campus printers. I know sometimes you don't want to wake up early for work either.
-Thank you jeep for having four wheel drive. I feel a lot safer when I'm driving through snow..not to mention I feel real cool.
-Thank you boys apartment across the way, you make a mean cookie. also thanks for making me laugh while you try to shake your booty like beyonce. (technically this was last night. shoot me.)
-Thank you keels on your mission to still take time to give sisterly talk over e-mail.
-and finally thank you quote of the day "I just like wearing daft sweaters."-Paul McCartney. I share that joy as well.
here's for a laugh:
(p.s. thanks cameron, tim, scott, and raph for showing this to me. i like you guys)

We are all blind

We had to watch The Color of Paradise for my film class. I recommend it for everyone! It a story about redemption. I cannot even write a review that will do the film justice. ah, it's beautiful-the cinematography, the acting, the setting, and the message it conveys. The truly remarkable little boy, Muhammad, is blind. His father is ashamed of him to the point that he has not even told his fiance about Muhammad's existence. There is a struggle to find unconditional love-Muhammad seeks it, his father cannot give it.
Muhammad does find some love, his grandmother and sister love him dearly. Also by listening to nature, God communicates to him. Whether it's by the song of a bird, the feel of the sand, or the whispering of the breeze, Muhammad listens as God tells him of his undying love. There are BEAUTIFUL religious metaphors in this film. We are all like Muhammad, and if we listen, God will speak to us. I urge everyone to see this film!
Mohammad: [crying] "Our teacher says that God loves the blind more because they can't see. But I told him if it was so, He would not make us blind so that we can't see Him. He answered 'God is not visible. He is everywhere. You can feel Him. You see Him through your fingertips.' Now I reach out everywhere for God till the day my hands touch Him and tell Him everything, even all the secrets in my heart."
