New Adventure
I'm in this video. yeah buddy.
Ohkay. So, great weekend planned. Thursday night Beirut show, then 80's dancing, and then drive to Provo. Friday pool all day except for when participating in the world's largest water balloon fight, plus maybe run into Italian boy. Saturday morning hugo slip and slide.
It's Thursday. I leave my house at four to go pick up people, the concert doesn't start until seven but we're those type of people that wait in line for hours to be front row. Unfortunately everyone is like me and has to take a million trips back and forth to and from the car to get everything they need. So, finally we're going along fine. Missy is sharing lovely songs the whole way until we're in Salt Lake. All of a sudden turning left at a stoplight two blocks from the park, my jeep dies. And WON'T start. Yes, it doesn't have over 300,000 miles on it for nothing. Two nice guys help us push it over to the side of the road so we won't die. Unfortunately we're across from the cluster of homeless shelters so we may just die anways. But, uh..we are having a hard time popping the hood (you had to pull REALLY hard okay!) and my Dad is in Georgia on a business trip about to get on a plane. My Mom is at least 30 minutes away and it's not the safest part of town to have three girls waiting by themselves, like I said before we're across from pretty much all the homeless shelters in Salt Lake. Thankfully my Uncle works a few blocks away and towed, yes towed, my poor jeep to some safe overnight parking. And let me just say being towed is not the funnest thing in the world. No damage seems to be done as now my car is working fine, it just decided to randomly die, and I got to the show in plenty of time.
I walk into the park and guess what the first thing I see is? Christian! Nope, I'm NOT kidding you. If you don't know who Christian is, well he's the boy that lived in the basement apartment in the building next to me that I creeped on. Then the second thing I see...Spencer! I love this concert already. I hadn't seen Spenny in a year, lame. My hair's totally longer than his now, by the way. I forgot how much I love that kid. Beirut played and they were beautiful. I still can't believe I saw them live. It was wonderful. We were so close that I could look at their fingers for wedding rings to see who was married. NOT that I was looking to see who was eligible, come on like I'm that creepy. The concert was the first time my cousin had ever smelt pot, bless the bubble. Or, seen someone pass out because they were completely wasted. haha, this couple was funny. Out of the corner of my eye I notice the crowd collectively gasp and reach down. I look over to see this girl being hoisted back to her boyfriend, she wakes up with a "whaa happened?" then without waiting for an answer starts making out with her boyfriend. Don't do drugs kids. But I've never seen more beautiful boys in one place. So, I guess it evens out??
Friday Michelle and I went up to Pineview. We spent the whole day up there canoeing, suntanning, and swimming. It was absolutely glorious. We'd paddle the canoe away from the shore then sit in the bottom waiting to float back. I swear we'd just sit in the bottom and then we'd be at the shore. So, eventually we just paddled from our seat in the bottom of the canoe; it's a lot harder than you'd think it is. We had a great moment belting Pocahontas while kneeling in the canoe. I love my cousin. Funny moment, so we'd been getting hit on all day by these guys. They couldn't have been older than seventeen. Not that flattering. We were super duper tired when we were about to leave and carrying an 80 pound canoe between us didn't sound too appetizing. Michelle wanted to ask the boys to help us, but uh sometimes I have a bit of a pride issue. Basically I said no. Fifteen minutes and three rests later with our only feat being that we were halfway to the car. Michelle death stares at me and says,"How's your ego now?" "Pretty good, actually" I replied. You had to be there, it was funny I promise.
I loveee four day weekends and hate for them to end. BUT only three weeks left of work. AND I go to California sometime soon to see Amber Roo and Timmy Poo! Plus Keely's burning a skirt because she's at her halfway point.

good sabbath
Mosiah4:9-13
"Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.
10 And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them.
11 And again I say unto you as I have said before, that as ye have come to the knowledge of the glory of God, or if ye have known of his goodness and have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of your sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel.
12 And behold, I say unto you that if ye do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with the love of God, and always retain a remission of your sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you, or in the knowledge of that which is just and true.
13 And ye will not have a mind to injure one another, but to live peaceably, and to render to every man according to that which is his due."
This is my favorite scripture because it lays out truths so bluntly. Believe in Him, trust that He is God, He has blessed you, so you should do this, then He will bless you again. It helps me every single time I read it over. And that extra verse, well, sometimes I just need to hear that:)
And this hymn just really struck home today:
More Holiness Give Me, hymn 131
"More holiness give me, More strivings within,
More patience in suff'ring, More sorrow for sin,
More faith in my Savior, More sense of his care,
More joy in his service, More purpose in prayer.
More gratitude give me, More trust in the Lord,
More pride in his glory, More hope in his word,
More tears for his sorrows, More pain at his grief,
More meekeness in trial, More praise for relief.
More purity give me, More strength to o'ercome,
More freedom from earth stains, More longing for home.
More fit for the kingdom, More used would I be,
More blessed and holy More, Savior, like thee.

That's all I gotta do

Somehow growing up teaches people to fear water, in a sense. Grown up people hate to get wet if they're not in their swimming suit. My hypothesis consists of two factors. One, the whole having to look presentable in society kind of thing. Lame! Two, conditioning. They remember how uncomfortable they were the last time they got sopping wet while wearing jeans. Again, Lame! They forget the high exhilaration present when you are dodging a deadly stream of water. A deadly stream of water presents a whole new realm your imagination can scope! In short, pretend you're in a deadly war of extreme capture the flag where endless amounts of enemy warriors are shooting at you. Plus, an old excitement is aroused from childhood when you are wet in clothes that aren't supposed to get wet. It's freedom, living on the edge, escaping into a world where the colors are brighter and the air tastes sweeter.
and oh my gosh..The Beatles do a cover of The Music Man. I honestly...just..wow...huh. I need to listen to their earlier music more frequently.
another oh my gosh..She&Him does a cover of The Beatles on their album. I REALLY need to listen to the earlier Beatles more.
pathetic I don't know these things.

whoops. eek eek.
After we mow at work we have to blow the grass off the sidewalk right? Well, this is a subject of many accidental inappropriate thoughts and jokes. For example, my thought process one day, "It's too hard to blow today, it's way too wet and heavy. Oh! gosh. ewww." or, "This is the best blow job I've ever done, yeah..."
We also have managed to name our equipment so we know who's taking what machine. One of our lazers(riding mowers) got named after our boss who, thankfully, had to go out for the rest of summer to get surgery. We have a blower from our head boss that we borrowed after another blower broke. He felt the need to write his name on it so he'd get it back. Welp, now the blower is named after him. So we ride Kevin and blow with Jason. Awkward, inappropriate, and yet FUNny.

best friend

I'm so blessed with such great friendships. I don't know what I've done so that I AM so blessed. Maybe God knows I need extra help along the way.
This weekend I went down to Provo to play with Ally. Saturday was easily the best day I've had all summer. We swam at the pool, went to Gateway including ANTHROPOLOGY!, then came home and played in the sand at Heritage Halls for old times sake. We were going to soggyball Joe's old apartment as well, but can you believe it their apartment is now EFY headquarters for the summer. So, we thought that'd maybe not be the smartest idea. Oh, haha and we played penis with freshman. Most people would never go back to the dorms to play or at least they'd never admit they did. We're just cool like that.
I feel like every time Ally and I play we get just that much closer and I realize just how great of a person she is. She's been through so much in her life but by looking at her you'd never realize. This weekend we talked a lot about how temporary the state is we are in right now. Ultimately it made me appreciate my family and the other relationships I have. As long as I have those I love around me I'm good.
Ally and I make great best friends because we're pretty much the same person but she's like the new upgraded version haha. She makes me happy.

This is possibly my favorite picture of our friendship...plus it was candid.

It's just an allusion caused by the world spinning round
These are just such beautiful lyrics.
Do you realize
That happiness makes you cry?
Do you realize
That everyone you know someday will die?
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes
Let them know you realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
-The Flaming Lips
The ability to love and be loved is the most wonderful gift God has given us. I feel like expressing your love is so so important. Sometimes people forget and they need to be reminded that you care. Some things just cannot be expressed by words. Like this song says life is short so it's important to enjoy the good, because there's plenty of good.
I feel blessed that I can experience so many emotions. To quote another song, "Without the sour, the sweet wouldn't please." One needs the other, the other needs the one. When something bad happens it's not the end of the world you know? I love the sun imagery in these lyrics. The sun gets its light from Christ right? So, life gets in the way and it seems like God has deserted you but He hasn't. Even if you cannot see Him at this particular moment He is still there influencing your life night and day.

stellar weekend yo
Play this song while you read this post.
So, once upon a time this weekend we had a three day long 4th of July! I love the fourth. Mostly cause Richfield's 4th is BAMF, but also..nooo mostly just cause Richfield's 4th is BAMF.
Friday. I went over to a girl's house on my crew to party. We made candy sushi,

played just dance, that obviously is not us but it is THE BEST GAME EVER,
then we watched Seven Brides for Seven Brothers on the side of her house,
it was quite satisfying to lay there spooning amongst blankets and pillows, gazing at the stars, and listening to "Bless Her Beautiful Hide". Needless to say we all fell asleep and didn't wake up until two in the morning. These are all people who are used to going to bed at ten and waking up at 5:30 mind you.
Saturday. My uncle's work was a sponsor for the Stadium of Fire so we got third row tickets, plus a banquet beforehand, to see someone who's name I don't remember but played an awesome fiddle, the Second Generation Osmonds, Carrie Underwood, and the Five Browns. Plus crazy, psycho fireworks. Then we drove to Richfield to stay at my Grandma's house.
Sunday. Church was cool. Hanging out with cousins was super duper fun. The Big Bang Theory=brilliance.
Monday. Richfield parade with FRUTIES!!
the best candy in the world. Then there was the usual parade of vintage tractors and old cars alike, but REAL floats. Not the fake decorated boats and trucks Kaysville likes to pretend are parade floats, but legit like Macy's Day Parade floats (but not quite that hardcore). Then to the carnival at the park, fourwheeling around in the nearby mountains, and delicious meals prepared by my G-ma. Finally the fireworks. You've never seen fireworks like little, hickville Richfield puts them on. I counted no less then NINE different spots that illegal fireworks were being set off. Part of the time I was honestly getting sick from swiveling my head around to watch them all, and the other part of the time I was cowering in my seat on the grass trying to present a smaller target for the neighbors fireworks across the street. You know you're in Richfield when the real fireworks show starts after the city fireworks are over.
Tuesday. I didn't have to work today either cause of budget cuts going on in the school district, whoop. So, we drove home this morning. Tonight is another work party which includes a barbecue, tye-dye, slip&slide, and other loveliness.
My favorite part of the whole weekend was a tweenish girl at the stadium of fire wearing a British Flag shirt. Hmmm?? I think she might have been a little confused.

God's golden shore y'all
That George Clooney. What a stud. I'd tap that any day. I just watched "O Brother Where Art Thou". Finally. I wasn't disappointed. I love movies that aren't what you see everyday. They make me pull out my thinking cap and start analyzing parts of the film that sometimes gloss over me if it's a standard Hollywood film. I just feel no need if they're Hollywood standard based, generally. The soundtrack is also great.
Renaldo is dead. For reals. :(
I smell.
It's finally Friday tomorrow.
Graduate school back East. Hurry up.
I need to finish painting my shoes.
Tye-dye
Jane Eyre
Blah bla bla bluebbee bleub bla.
New phone
A crush to pass the time.
Time to dye my purple back to brown.
sleeeeep.
That's all that's on my mind.
