a good attitude to have throughout all this homework:
MOTIVATION
Drawing is a fun thing to do.
Sometimes you can make something look exactly like what it is-
a banana, or a race car, or your girlfriend’s eyes when she is happy.
Sometimes you can make something look even better than what it is
stronger, or shinier, or with the power to fly.
Or you can take something that never existed
and make it real for the whole wide world
just with some pens and pencils.
You can practice all the time
by yourself on old note pads
or bills you don’t plan on paying.
And you can give out the finished scraps
to friends for Christmas and birthdays.
Maybe if you draw a picture well enough
you’ll want to show everyone
and one of the people you show will want to take your drawing
and put it on a t-shirt and sell it at a store
you’ve never heard of.
That could be something.
Or maybe they will put it behind glass
and protect it with men with guns
and years after you die
people will come for miles and miles
just to look at it
even though they might not even want to look at it
they just know they are supposed to.
But mostly drawing is fun,
and not as serious as all this sounds
the same as throwing a ball around
with your friends on the beach
which is also something you should do more of…
if you don’t already.

I've been slacking at this blogging game. My mind has been elsewhere. I have started several drafts but not finished them. Typical. This semester is already taxing. My day consists of class at eight, work then class again until 6:30 or on thursdays 8:00. Then after that is homework. I find joy in friendships though. Plus I generally enjoy my homework though it is tedious and time consuming most days. Also I have recognized a bit myself again of late. That's always good to find a bit of yourself that you seem to have forgotten. Quite a few remarkable tunes have found their way into my life as well. Music is a most marvelous gift from God. We have a music corner in our apartment. It consists of four guitars, two keyboards, a banjo, a ukulele and a tambourine. Also in that room is a fern hanging by the window, a red tapestry on the wall, ten or more national geographic magazines laying on our coffee table, an old red leather golf bag with two golf clubs ally and i rescued from DI, bookshelves full of charming reads, a striped rag rug lying in front of the fireplace with an LP of Abby Road my brother gave me as a preview to my birthday gift sitting on the mantel. All of us in the apartment share a fondness for this room. We have collectively decided that the room is much cooler than we are. If someone were to walk in without knowing us they would think that some urban outfitter models were living here, but serriouusly.
On another note I have decided that my favorite character Jane Austen wrote, of the male variety, is Mr. Kingsley from Emma. He is smart, witty, sarcastic, down to earth, unconceited, kind and generous. I love how sneakily humorous she is in her dialogue. And as much as I'd rather not admit it, I enjoy that I understand her humour while there are those that don't. It's the same with Shakespeare. It's rather snobbish of me, but alack it is true.
Welp I am now tired as I direct my mind on what I have to do tomorrow. Lots of glorious homework. Oh, and a pagan pride festival to attend. I'm looking forward to it immensely. We're sure to have our viewpoint broadened in some way or another.
some gems of late:
sorry this isn't the greatest version but alas, it's the only one on youtube. you should listen to it sometime.
also, a testament that there are good love songs out there in the world.
