I'm slowly being sucked into One Direction. I've had "What Makes You Beautiful" on repeat all day today. It's the hair, the British style, the 4/4 time and the peppy lyrics. I'm going to go begin self loathing now..kaythnxbai
so last year I lived in the lovely Hampstead apartments. It was social, had a fireplace, new carpet, a big kitchen and a horrible smell that started seeping in through the floor and walls about two months after we moved in. We washed the rugs we had bought from DI several times and sprayed the floor over and over with febreeze. But the smell kept coming back. Around that same time Ally and I bought a hampster. Our roommates started blaming poor Handsome for the stench, but Ally and I were sure there was more to the story. The months went by, Handsome's cage was kept clean and we vacuumed up any poop that fell out of his ball. The smell continued.
It came to our knowledge that there were a bunch of cats that lived under the stairs of the apartment. They were so cute with their rabid kittens sitting on our step. Ally and I would always joke about how the smell was actually coming from a couple of dead cats under the floor. It turns out WE WERE RIGHT!! They recently excavated the cat colony from under our apartments and they found three rotting cat carcasses right under our apartment! THREE!

I knew it. Yet my disgust cannot be expressed.

it's the last day of summer.
I went to a Shins concert the night before i went to the ranch. They were on my list of people to see before I die, for good reason. The version they did of New Slang (see below) was one of those life changing moments that I have only felt experiencing live music. It's a time when all in life feels good. The havoc that encases our world is not able to penetrate the safe web that is born when an artist shares a part of their story. The lyrics and melody combine to form this force that becomes a personal conversation between all those in attendance. For a brief moment all in life is good, it's perfect.

That reminds me of a time this summer when I was with a friend and a friend of theirs came by on a long board listening to an ipod. I asked them what they were listening to and my friend said, as if apologizing, "She's obsessed with music." Bewildered, all I could think was, "How can you not be obsessed with music??"

Anyway, I thought that posting this song was a good way to end the season how it begun. Goodbye, best summer of my life. I'm sure there will be many more "best summers" to come, but you made an impression.

Fall, well, you have a lot to live up to.
