death cab for cutie happened last minute on monday.  the most amazing.  Ben Gibbard is one of God's greatest creations.  Ally and I snuck out of seats into others that weren't around anyone so we could dance to the goodness.
ya'll can watch these if you want but sorry, it's all for me so i remember.
First impression of Ben: he's taller and skinnier than I thought he would be. He is the most beautiful guitarist I've ever seen. Meaning, watching him play his guitar is truly watching an artist at work. It's a very intimate conversation and experience that he is sharing with you. He feels EVERY note and what it means to the song. I could've watched him hours more.
Tonight Ally and I decided to be Ben Gibbard tonight and reinact him at the show to this song. Ally heads over to the piano I grab a golf club. She then points out to me that i had the choice of four guitars and instead I went for the grimy golf club.

This was the next one that really hit me.  I knew this song before but hearing him sing it live just brought it to life.  This is now one of my favorite Death Cab songs.  Each of his songs means something just great.

After that was summer skin with my favorite line,  "and we peeled the freckles from our shoulders, our brand new coats all flushed and pink"

Then:
So great.  This video doesn't, nor does any but this one especially, give anything close to the feeling of actually being there.  Ally and I got into a in depth conversation about the meaning of this song to us.  We both see it as a reference to that experience you have when you're just living life and it has lost it's meaning.  That burning feeling to me is that experience where you know you need to change something and somehow get back to that happy place you used to be but you don't believe in yourself enough to even see yourself succeeding if you tried.
But it was just so lovely.
Another thing to do before I died checked off my list.

p.s. yoseph emailed me this week.  letters from missionaries must be the best thing in the world to receive in the mail. it brings me such happiness.
and he sent us his email to his mom. can i just say i love him so much! i love his little object lessons, and his whole paragraph on food. and his use of the phrase most exellent. and that he opened up a new area! and that he is building a go cart and that he spelled it gokart. and that he wrote a song in the middle of his email. and that he has found his reason as a missionary, and that he prefers to be called Elder ´´el bombero´'.
Also I stalked Sean's mission blog to find pictures of him.  and he's a zone leader and doing great things! also Jon wrote this week and is doing great great things.  And Tyler gave his farewell this past week and did amazing.
I'm so proud of my babies.
and so grateful to have these boys in my life to be such great examples.  Also, even if it's selfish, I'm grateful for how they treat me.  All I can say is the standard has been set very high by them.
i have been lazy and have been putting on writing 4th of july/24th for a long time.  but it's in the process.  i just want to say that best friend Tim called me on monday when he finally got some cell service.  It made my week.  We did some catching up on life and funny stories but mostly we just said how much we missed each other for an hour and a half.  you know how it goes, "blah blah blah this funny story happened that i'm telling you about right now and it reminded me of this one time with you...i miss you!" that's about how it went. it was quite lovely.
i smell bread, nomnom.
and i went to a bunch of shows that i'm going to post about, promise.
as well as Saturday at the Jordanelle reservoir.
and have you heard of pandora jam? an app for macs.  it is unbelievable.
so yeah...i'll write for real eventually.

It's true, Harry Potter was great! They finally got it right on the last move.  Though they did go a bit over the top the the evaporating deaths.  I'm telling you, having people slowly disintegrate is not half as cool as a good, solid, ground shaking collapse.  Since I am a critical movie watcher I just have to vent for a second: my only big complaint,  Voldemort's death.  Harry didn't even kill him!  He disarmed him and then Voldemort floated away into a bunch of pieces.  This unintentionally raises the question to watchers, did Voldemort really die?  Come on, I know that Expelliarmus is Harry's signature spell so it's cool that that's the last spell he used on good old Voldy, but because it's his signature does not give it the power to kill someone.  Lame.  It would've been so great if he disarmed him then used the Avada Kedava curse to kill him because the Avada Kedava curse is Voldemorts signature spell.  So it'd be like he used Voldy's own spell against him.  Rockin'.  Alack, after all the epic foam spitting battle where they jumped off buildings, tore through the air, scrambled around on their knees, Harry disarmes him and he just dies.  Expelliarmus does NOT work like that, come on people! p.s. Voldemort...not even close.  He's rather comical and not creepy.  All I can think about when I look at him is that line from the literal harry potter trailer, "He needs a nose..."
Okay.  Other than that though the film was great.  They stuck it pretty straight to the book and created an atmosphere that was true to the way Rowling developed.  I proudly admit that I cried.  Alot.  Snape's whole story was perfect.  He is the ultimate heart broken lover.  The death of Remus, Tonks, and Fred...heartbreaking.  McGonagall calling Hogwarts to defend it's keep, just gave me chills as I thought about it again.  I also enjoyed watching Hermione destroy the Horcrux, she deserved some screen time for that.  I have to voice the opinion though that it doesn't even seem like Ron and Harry are best friends or arguably friends at all.  I won't go in to that though, just something to consider.  As always they left out a few of the finer details, I really missed Teddy's involvement in the story for example,  but these details have to be considered when narrowing down the direct context and themes of the movie.  We have the theme concerning the triumph of the family.  The Weasleys being the prime example of course, but it was interesting to look at the Malfoys as well.  Even though they have been evil from the start of the story, in the end they have to sort out what matters most.  They choose to leave Voldemort's side and set out on their own together.  Also the battle between Bellatrix and Molly shows the family triumphant in the face the world.  Bellatrix ultimately is the world's view on women.  She's strong, independent, puts her "career" over everything in her life while Molly Weasley is the humble homemaker, watching passionately over her family, doing everything in her will to keep them safe.  Though Bellatrix outwardly seems to be the stronger of the two, Molly wins in the end securing her family's safety.
There were also great Christ motifs.  Harry of course is the Christ figure that gives himself over to protect those he loves.  He comes back to life stronger than he was before as an advocate between him and Voldemort.  This is has a greater portrayal in the book than the movie as Harry clarifies Voldy's bewilderment over why he cannot fatally harm any of those around him once they return to the Great Hall to have the finally battle.  By willfully dying to protect his friends out of love Harry placed upon them the same enchantment that Lily Potter laid upon Harry at age one protecting them from any harm good old Tom Riddle attempted to inflict upon them.  Just like how Christ has given us the gift of repentance so that if we come unto him we are saved and given eternal life.
J.K. Rowling is a genius.  And those who made the last film weren't so bad either:)  A great film.  I could go on about the story and flim but I believe I'd rather eat lunch.

i'm staying away from facebook until i see harry potter, just saying. it'll ruin it cause already my east coast/friends in other countries are saying how amazing it is. If i hear that over and over than it'll ruin the show and just get annoying.
