i have been lazy and have been putting on writing 4th of july/24th for a long time.  but it's in the process.  i just want to say that best friend Tim called me on monday when he finally got some cell service.  It made my week.  We did some catching up on life and funny stories but mostly we just said how much we missed each other for an hour and a half.  you know how it goes, "blah blah blah this funny story happened that i'm telling you about right now and it reminded me of this one time with you...i miss you!" that's about how it went. it was quite lovely.
i smell bread, nomnom.
and i went to a bunch of shows that i'm going to post about, promise.
as well as Saturday at the Jordanelle reservoir.
and have you heard of pandora jam? an app for macs.  it is unbelievable.
so yeah...i'll write for real eventually.

It's true, Harry Potter was great! They finally got it right on the last move.  Though they did go a bit over the top the the evaporating deaths.  I'm telling you, having people slowly disintegrate is not half as cool as a good, solid, ground shaking collapse.  Since I am a critical movie watcher I just have to vent for a second: my only big complaint,  Voldemort's death.  Harry didn't even kill him!  He disarmed him and then Voldemort floated away into a bunch of pieces.  This unintentionally raises the question to watchers, did Voldemort really die?  Come on, I know that Expelliarmus is Harry's signature spell so it's cool that that's the last spell he used on good old Voldy, but because it's his signature does not give it the power to kill someone.  Lame.  It would've been so great if he disarmed him then used the Avada Kedava curse to kill him because the Avada Kedava curse is Voldemorts signature spell.  So it'd be like he used Voldy's own spell against him.  Rockin'.  Alack, after all the epic foam spitting battle where they jumped off buildings, tore through the air, scrambled around on their knees, Harry disarmes him and he just dies.  Expelliarmus does NOT work like that, come on people! p.s. Voldemort...not even close.  He's rather comical and not creepy.  All I can think about when I look at him is that line from the literal harry potter trailer, "He needs a nose..."
Okay.  Other than that though the film was great.  They stuck it pretty straight to the book and created an atmosphere that was true to the way Rowling developed.  I proudly admit that I cried.  Alot.  Snape's whole story was perfect.  He is the ultimate heart broken lover.  The death of Remus, Tonks, and Fred...heartbreaking.  McGonagall calling Hogwarts to defend it's keep, just gave me chills as I thought about it again.  I also enjoyed watching Hermione destroy the Horcrux, she deserved some screen time for that.  I have to voice the opinion though that it doesn't even seem like Ron and Harry are best friends or arguably friends at all.  I won't go in to that though, just something to consider.  As always they left out a few of the finer details, I really missed Teddy's involvement in the story for example,  but these details have to be considered when narrowing down the direct context and themes of the movie.  We have the theme concerning the triumph of the family.  The Weasleys being the prime example of course, but it was interesting to look at the Malfoys as well.  Even though they have been evil from the start of the story, in the end they have to sort out what matters most.  They choose to leave Voldemort's side and set out on their own together.  Also the battle between Bellatrix and Molly shows the family triumphant in the face the world.  Bellatrix ultimately is the world's view on women.  She's strong, independent, puts her "career" over everything in her life while Molly Weasley is the humble homemaker, watching passionately over her family, doing everything in her will to keep them safe.  Though Bellatrix outwardly seems to be the stronger of the two, Molly wins in the end securing her family's safety.
There were also great Christ motifs.  Harry of course is the Christ figure that gives himself over to protect those he loves.  He comes back to life stronger than he was before as an advocate between him and Voldemort.  This is has a greater portrayal in the book than the movie as Harry clarifies Voldy's bewilderment over why he cannot fatally harm any of those around him once they return to the Great Hall to have the finally battle.  By willfully dying to protect his friends out of love Harry placed upon them the same enchantment that Lily Potter laid upon Harry at age one protecting them from any harm good old Tom Riddle attempted to inflict upon them.  Just like how Christ has given us the gift of repentance so that if we come unto him we are saved and given eternal life.
J.K. Rowling is a genius.  And those who made the last film weren't so bad either:)  A great film.  I could go on about the story and flim but I believe I'd rather eat lunch.

i'm staying away from facebook until i see harry potter, just saying. it'll ruin it cause already my east coast/friends in other countries are saying how amazing it is. If i hear that over and over than it'll ruin the show and just get annoying.

the fourth of july.  almost a month later.
Saturday the second my cousin Michelle and I drove down to Richfield together because both of our families bailed.  It was a great classic college road trip.  I say this because a. the car had no air conditioning b. we had classic road trip snacks  c. we spent the whole time talking about our lives and our theories on life d. the other part where we weren't getting chatty we were listening to random radio stations that we picked up as we drove through the middle of no where passing towns that were so small you'd miss them if you sneezed.
When we got to grandma's we were greeted with the smell of fresh rolls and little cousins.  They were so much fun to play with.  The oldest, a boy, is the sweetest little boy I've ever met, the middle, a girl, is the most energetic kid I've ever met, and the third, a girl, is just entrancing all you wanna do is cuddle her.  The other little cousin that was there was a little boy, he has the biggest eyes and sweetest dewy smile.  The middle girl was in timeout on the couch.  So I played hide and go seek with her without leaving the couch.  I'd pile the pillows on her, cover her with my arms since she was sitting in my lap, count to ten, then say, "Where is she? Is she on the ceiling? No. Is she under the table? No." etc.. kids get entertained by the simplest things.  We could all take a lesson from them.  That night Michelle and I stayed up talking until four a.m.  We'd been going through similar challenges and experiences.  We talked about how really most of the time it's not our ability that limits our potential but our own personal fear.  We need to have confidence, boldness, and faith in how we live.  It was some good bon-bon time.  I feel like that girl is more than my cousin, she's more like my little sister.  I'm more protective of her than anything. I love family.
This week was a happy summer week. Monday Ally and I went to the pool for a few hours with Dan. It was great to be out in the sun and relaxing in the pool. Ally and I were trying to get Dan to come to the pool so we started do this "come hither" dance which sadly only creeped him out. I don't know why though, I mean we were only staring at him with sly smiles while moving our shoulders up and down with out hands out cupped and fingers waving. Okay, yeah I know why it creeped him out haha.
Then some guys from my ward invited us to a giant slip and slide over at Rock Canyon Park. It was crazy! Because of all the run off, the park has a river going through the bottom. Perfect for sliding into at the end of the 100 foot long tarp. I admit that I was the first one to get into the river due to my form that I had developed from previous experience..aka going down the slip and slide for Young Womens up at Huntsville with Brother Mckay. Good times. Of course, running into the river created the problem of mud and sticks and rocks getting all up in your grill and down your swimsuit. I was pulling weeds out of my hair for two days even after I had washed it. It was super duper grreat. Then my lovely friend Tressa came down to stay with me. It was great to see her and talk with her. I'm not fond of tons of people from high school but those I am I love dearly.
Fast forward to Friday. I was grumpy with Ally. She wanted to ride bikes and I wanted to go swimming. It's not often that we don't want to do the same thing, it was strange. So we compromised. Bike ride to the pool. There was this nasty, awkward couple there. HAhahaha they were kissing underwater but so that so she was on top of him the problem was is that they floated to the surface so her backside was floating on top like a dead persons while they made out. Not particularly hot. Ally and I had a hard time holding in the the laugh and the barf.
Surprisingly, even after seeing that we were hungry. The most wonderful idea came to me. Hot dogs over the fire. We headed to the store for supplies then back to my house to tie everything down to our bikes. For fire wood we broke some old fence posts into pieces that had been sitting under my stairs for evah. We tied everything down with floral wire that I had lying around and headed over to the park. We started the fire in one of those grill things with lots of newspaper, i mean LOTS of newspaper and one match. We talked for hours as we ate hot dogs and marshmallows. I have never tasted anything so delicious. Some other people had come to the park and were lighting illegal fireworks. It was a great show. By then it was like eleven so we headed home. On our way home we took a short cut through condo row where some people were watching Toy Story 3 on huge sheets raised on their building. They invited us to watch it as we rode by. We made friends, we were so proud haha. Go us for being friendly. We're trying to work on that :)
It was the perfect summer night. The perfect start to a holiday weekend.
